Germaine's Luau

Held in traditional "backyard-style", this beachfront Luau incorporates authentic Hawaiian ceremonies dating back to the times of the monarchs with contemporary dining and entertainment. Located just 35 minutes outside of Waikiki on the west coast of Oahu, this special celebration of culture guarantees both an educational and exciting experience. The talented performers from the Polynesian Revue will awe you with a magnificent knife-dance, a ritual that dates back to ancient times when it was used as a pre-war ceremony to invigorate the warriors before heading off to battle. You will be involved in a musical tour of the various cultures of the South Pacific that have morphed into the great melting pot of Hawaiian history over the decades. The evening's entertainment also includes drumming, a Royal Court procession, and the Imu ceremony, which reveals the unearthing of a roasted pig from its underground oven. This is just one delicacy included in the grand feast that continues into the night! The food served at Germaine's will not fail to impress even the snobbiest gourmet, and will introduce several new native foods to any new visitors to the island. Drinks are always available at the bar, where you can find both classic island flavors and American favorites. This vibrant luau celebration is not something you want to miss, and by booking your reservations ahead of time you can guarantee a good time for the entire family. Transportation from Waikiki is available.

Paradise Cove Luau

As you arrive at the Paradise Cove Luau, you will be greeted with a Mai Tai and adorned with tropical leis. Situated on 12 gorgeous acres of coastline, the Ko Olina Resort is your accommodating host for the evening, and your night of Hawaiian entertainment will continue to surprise you as the party continues. The landscape alone will blow you away, from the lush rolling lawns to the swaying palms and nearby shores complete with lapping waves. You will have to tear your eyes away from the spectacular views to witness the even more wonderful displays of beauty being performed for you on stage. The Extravaganza show, held after dinner, includes musical inspiration from many neighboring Pacific island cultures. Before you eat you can wander through the craft area and learn all about Hawaiian handiwork, or compete in traditional games and help with the ancient art of net fishing, known as "Hukilau" in Hawaiian. You might learn some new moves at the hula lesson, but nothing even close to the talented performers that will stun you with their powerful dancing in the after-dinner show.

Polynesian Cultural Center

At this well-equipped cultural center you will be amazed by the wide array of facilities and activities, ranging from an IMAX theatre to canoe rides. The most popular tourist attraction in Oahu, the center provides valuable education to visitors and keeps Hawaiian tradition and rituals alive. The center is a large, open-air museum and you can visit any of the 7 villages that have been modeled after a variety of Polynesian communities. Demonstrations take place each day and display various crafts and traditions. But most importantly, the in-house Luau that takes place in the evening is the highlight of any visit. After touring the museum you can begin to feast on the delicious food served buffet style and prepared according to ancient rituals. The large amphitheatre lights up the night with fire dancing and rhythmic music that will rouse your soul with the vibrant spirit of Aloha!

Royal Hawaiian

From the moment that you step into Waikiki's Pink Palace you will be treated like royalty as you are greeted with drink in hand and escorted to your table with views of the ocean and situated on the lush grounds of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Music plays all night and you can sit back and relax to the melodious tones of classic island songs. Witness the fabulous Imu ceremony before beginning your dinner, complete with fresh roasted pig. Your meal includes local favorites like mahi mahi (island fish), lomi lomi salmon, teriyaki steak, poi, sweet potatoes, rice, vegetables, salads, island fruits, haupia (coconut pudding) and a selection of delicious cakes. You can also find familiar American style food for picky eaters. The all-you-can-eat buffet is sure to keep you coming back for more! The dancing performance begins later in the evening and will keep you on the edge of your seat as Polynesian dancers share their stunning cultural heritage of powerful music and movement.

Sea Life Park Luau

On Oahu's southeastern point you can find the gorgeous Sea Life Park, where dolphins, penguins and sea lions frolic and play for your viewing pleasure. For the traveling family this is a perfect way to combine fun for the kids and adults at the same time. Children love to see the animal shows before the Luau ceremonies begin and everyone can appreciate the magnificent views of the Koolau Mountains and ocean in the background.

Included in the luau ticket price is an admission ticket to the Sea Life Park itself, so take advantage of this package deal and spend the day exploring the marine life on display. The party begins at sundown, after the large feast, when the dancers of Tahiti Productions perform musical numbers from the Polynesian tradition. This incredible celebration, for the whole family to enjoy, takes place each week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, plus Mondays and Thursdays during the summer.
